Quick Start

This page walks through creating a diagram from a blank canvas. To bootstrap a diagram from an existing codebase instead, start with Scan your first repo.

Current language support for repository scanning and import generation is TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, and Terraform (.tf / .tfvars), including common AWS, Azure (azurerm), and Kubernetes (kubernetes_*) provider resources.

1. Open your workspace in DataParade (see Workspace and team if you were invited to someone else’s workspace).
2. Create a diagram from scratch or from a template.
3. Add assets, actors, and third parties — see Node Types for the available kinds.
4. Connect them with data flows.
5. Fill privacy, security, and engineering node properties.
6. Review risks and update controls — see What Is a Risk Diagram for the underlying concepts.
7. Optionally leave comments and @mentions on the canvas for your team.
8. On Account, adjust email notification preferences if you want daily digests or no comment email (the sidebar bell stays on).
